Emergency Food Aid

washed away crops.jpg

Following the flooding earlier this year, the community in Likhubula are facing the prospects of real food shortages.

We need to help. Could you help?

Crops have been destroyed. We have heard from Malawi:

"Crops were badly destroyed by the floods. The most painful thing to most people is that they had just applied hard earned subsidy bag of fertilizers, before it has done its work to the crops it was washed

away by heavy rains. In other places were the fertilizers and crops washed away together. The harvests will be very low this year."

Our committe in Likhubula have comfirmed there is a real problem and have asked for our help:

Most families in Likhubula Community will have poor harvest and have no food for their living. Most people will starve this year. People are supposed to harvest in April every year and the food should last them until next harvesting season but this year is not like that. Majority wont harvest even a single 50kg bag of maize.

We have spoken with Marys Meals who have agreed to source and deliver food to Likhubula, and our committee in Likhubula have taken responsibility for identifying the most needy and organising the distribution of the food. We have so far committed to support for 130 families in the community.

Partnership in action!

However, having just fixed the vital clean water supply, our funds are much lower than anticipated and we require some urgent fundraising to allow us to help our friends and partners in Likhubula.

We need to help. Could you help?

If you were able, please do visit our online giving page here.

Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
