We have received an update from Marys Meals on the feeding programme at Nansato Primary School. The programme continues to go from strength to strength!
Many years ago, the Dunblane community supported the building of the Marys Meals kitchen at Nansato Primary School and guaranteed funding for the first 3 years of operation. We are now many years beyond this and many people continue to support this brilliant scheme.
Within the first few weeks of implementation, attendance at school had increased again to over 1000 and this was attributed by teachers at the school to the provision of Marys Meals. Attendance has continued to grow every year and this most recent report shows attendance has now reached over 1700 pupils!!
That means over 1700 pupils getting a good meal every day at school!
Mr Phiri, Deputy Head Teacher at Nansato Primary, said:
"The children are flourishing in the school with high enrolment and attendance across the board. The health and wellbeing of our students is very good which in turn makes it easier for them to learn"
Mrs Musapato, one of the local people who volunteer to cook for the children, said:
"Cooking for the children is my way of helping them to learn. They need the strength that the phala gives them. I enjoy being here at the school and seeing the joy that the children share"
If you have supported or continue to support the running of Marys Meals at Nansato Primary School, then thank you!
