Dunblane Likhubula Partnership

We were very pleased to hear from the Likhubula Committee of a meeting organised with the Dunblane Bursars, their parents, and Mr Nyambalo- the Bursars monitor. Discussions included the expected behaviour of Bursars, support of parents, and the creation of some new rules for for staying on the Bursar scheme were put forward by the Likhubula committee. The results of the Form 4 Bursars were also discussed, and one of the top students- Gift Jubeki- told other Bursars the secret was "working hard both in class and reading different books" and that they must "have confidence that they can do." On Saturday 23rd November, we held a coffee morning at the Dunblane Cathedral Halls. Delicious bacon rolls, scones, pancakes and warming teas and coffees helped take away the chill from the frosty air outside. There were also stalls selling used books, African curios and delicious home baking. Our 2014 calendars were on sale and have almost sold out already! Today's grand total is over £930 raised already with some further cakes and calendars left to sell. Thank you to everyone who helped to make our coffee morning so successful including all our visitors. We have just heard from the Likhubula Committee that 8 new goats have just arrived as part of the Goat Project! 7 female goats and 1 billy have been provided through Mulanje Mission Projects Office, our partners in delivering this project, using funds left over from previous phases of the project. The new goats have been distributed into Kholas across various villages. We are also delighted to hear of the birth of a new billy goat, born as part of the goat project, in Gibson village. We have just heard of the exam results of the Form 4 Dunblane Bursars, and 4 of the 6 Bursars have passed! Of these Bursars, particular congratulations must to go Christina Kolopo of Mulanje Secondary and Gift Jubeki of Chambe Secondary who scored highly enough to be considered to write university entrance exams.
