News from the High School

The annual Dunblane High school Likhubula day was held on Thursday 25th September. It was a great success and the total amount raised was £678.56.

This was through a bake sale at the lunch and break time of that day and donations given for participation in the cross country run.

Talks were also given to each year group by members of the Dunblane Likhubula Youth Partnership. These talks were about 10 minutes long and they were simply for reminding everyone about the link and giving them a brief introduction to the nurse project.

The Nurse Project is a program which was created by 4 S4 pupils for a Global Citizenship Competition where they managed to succeed as the overall winners and came away with the £500 prize. The idea behind this project is to have a nurse placed in Chambe Secondary School (where the Dunblane Bursars are) to help the children with any medical needs and to improve their knowledge and understanding of key health issues.

We are planning on making this a sustainable project that will engrave itself into the community in Likhubula and the Partnership in Dunblane, so we have done many fundraising events this year but still have many more to do to reach our ongoing target.

The annual Dunblane Likhubula Coffee morning is our next and last Fundraising event of the year as it is on the 15th of November. This year it is in support of the Nurse project and will include a vast range of activities from the typical teas, coffees and home baking to a chocolate fountain and African themed gifts that are perfect for Christmas.
